Our Meat

The meat sold in the shop comes directly from our farm, located 2 miles away in Edgeworth. Our farm spans 108 acres which allows our animals to be reared in wide open spaces. We have high expectations of welfare anf therefore our animals are all free range and allowed time to grow at their natural rate. Although not organic (our animals are given a supplementary feed) the animals graze on land which is not fertilised and we do not give antibiotics unless there is a medical requirement to do so.
We rear pigs, cattle, lamb and goats at the farm and the vension sold in the shop comes from deer shot on our land.

Our meat is butchered at a local, traditional butchers and Kate collects it every Thursday to put into our display chiller at the shop. Because we are a small farm and business we will not always have every cut and variety of meat available but hope to always offer you something to cook for dinner!
Pork is rotated on a fortnightly basis with pork cuts and sausages one week and bacon, gammon and sausages the next.
When we have beef we have it available over a four weekly schedule with the first two weeks being the fore quarters (mince, brisket, stewing steak, burgers and minute steaks) followed by two further weeks of dry aged meat (sirloin, rump, fillet and ribeye steaks, alongside topside joints, mince and stewing steak).
Vension is harder to predict as we have it in stock whenever it can be shot and in season.
Lamb comes into stock every 6 weeks or so when we have a week without beef.
